If you're simply a leisure cyclists, Visit Wales has identified nearby Knighton as a Cycle Break Centre. which means that you have access to some of the loveliest day cycling in Wales. Details of routes are available from Offa's Dyke Centre featuring easy-to-follow maps. Circular rides range from 9 to 33 miles (15 to 55km) in length. We have a couple of quite decent bikes that you may borrow free of charge.
Off-Road: The area around Well House B&B is excellent for off-road biking with plenty of by-ways that permit access by mountain-bikers. Hopton Wood three miles away lies amid the glorious scenery of South Shropshire Hills and offers 19 miles (32km) of forest roads, tracks and single tracks covering 350 hectares of woodland. There are colour coded routes for both leisure and thrill seeking off road cyclists and mountain bikers. There are also exciting off road opportunities at Radnor Forest where there are two main trails: the 5-mile (8km), "Easy" grade Rhiw Pool Trail and the 10-mile (16km) "Moderate to Strenuous" Black Mixen Trail. We're also literally just a few minutes away from where Pearce Cycles of Ludlow hold their downhill series events.
Touring: We've put up a few people recently who've wanted bed and breakfast on a stop-over while cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats. We are very close to the CTC recommended route but the End to End cyclists who have stayed with us have all said how much it was worth making a slight detour up the Redlake Valley knowing that there's a pot of tea with home-made cake, and a bath awaiting them. We have secure storage for bikes, and a space for hanging up wet tents overnight.
Cycling Clubs:
From May this year we will be able to accommodate groups of up to ten people. This is because our neighbour has finished converting the stone barn that adjoins our garden and it now will be operates as a very nice holiday let. The cottage can sleep four while our house can take up to six, but we can do breakfasts for everyone. This could be especially suitable for a group of touring cyclists as we have secure storage for any nuumber of bikes. We will be happy to discuss your particular requirements and provide a very reasonable quote.
