There are plenty of places for eating out within easy driving distance and we can book ahead for you to secure a table. Here are a few recommendations, but there are plenty more.
The White Horse Inn at Clun

Ten minutes drive away, the White Horse is a traditional real ale pub in the small town of Clun set within the beautiful South Shropshire Hills. They serve a wide selection of local real ales and a varied menu of home cooked food in a convivial atmosphere. Lunch and evening meals are served in the bar and dining room every day. For sunny days there is a secluded beer garden at the rear of the pub. The landlord, Jack Limond, is proud of his cellar and keeps his real ales to the highest standard. Up to eight real ales and ciders are served. He is also co-founder of the Clun Brewery. Jack holds the Cask Marque, and The White Horse Inn has been listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide continually from 2002 to 2009. Regular ales and ciders include Wye Valley, Butty Bach, Hobsons Bitter and Mild, Three Tuns XXX, Salopian Shropshire Gold, Westons First Quality Cider and Westons Country Perry. To book a table phone the White Horse on 01588 640305.
The Sun Inn Leintwardine
The Sun doesn't do meals as it's primarily a real ale pub, but we've included it here because the beer is so good, and you can buy a meal at the fish and chip shop next door and eat it in one of the Sun's bars (but remember that the chippy closes at 8.30!). Click here to find out more about a pub described by CAMRA as "possibly the most unspoilt pub in the country".
The Baron of Beef in Bucknell

Just a few minutes down the lane form us, the Baron is a traditional, family-owned, free-house, country inn with stunning views of rolling Shropshire Hills. They serve high quality, home-cooked food and award-winning real ales in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The Baron was a Front of House Team finalist in the 2008 Publican Food and Drink Awards. There is good disabled access and a new disabled toilet. Cick here for a sample menu.To book a table phone the Baron of Beef on 01547 530549.
Milebrook House

Milebrook House is just a few miles away in the Teme Valley on the way to Knighton. It was once the home of Sir Wilfred Thesiger, the famous writer and explorer. Lunch and dinner are served in Milebrook House's award-winning restaurant (and on the terrace in the summer months). The kitchen serves freshly prepared food using flair and imagination by chef, Christopher Marsden, and his team. Milebrook pride themselves on their locally sourced and seasonal menu. Many of their vegetables are grown in their kitchen garden and the rest are sourced locally. All their meat is local as are the cheeses, while seasonal game comes the nearby Stanage Estate. Ice creams and sorbets are often prepared using home grown fruit. Bread and pastries are all prepared in-house. Click here for a sample bar menu or here for the a la carte menu. For Well House guests eating at Milebrook there is a 10% reduction off the price of an evening meal off for two people from the 3-course or 2-course table d'hote menu. The Waterdine at Llanfair Waterdine
The Waterdine has been refreshing the weary traveller for literally hundreds of years. Nestling in the picturesque upper Teme Valley in the hamlet of Llanfair Waterdine which was mentioned in the Doomsday Book, it has the River Teme running at the bottom of the garden, which is the border between England and Wales at this point. This restaurant is for advance booking only, and is ideal for a special occasion. Click here for a sample menu. To book a table phone the Waterdine on 01547 528214
